Itinerary

After breezing through visa formalities and collecting your luggage at Tribhuvan International Airport, head to the arrival hall exit. Look for the friendly Himali Exped representative holding a placard with our name.

They'll whisk you off to your Kathmandu hotel, where you'll be greeted with refreshing welcome drinks. In the evening, your trip leader will brief you about your exciting adventure in the hotel lobby.

Feel free to explore the surrounding streets after the briefing – a great way to get acclimated to the vibrant atmosphere of Kathmandu!
Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you'll be informed about the time for your briefing and equipment check. We prioritize your comfort, so if your flight arrives late, we'll conduct the equipment check in the afternoon instead of the morning, allowing you time to rest and adjust to the time difference.

In the evening, your trek and climb leader will provide a comprehensive briefing about your upcoming adventure. This session will also give you the opportunity to address any equipment needs you might have. Should you require rentals or last-minute purchases, the leader can assist you in making the necessary arrangements.

This revision offers a clearer structure and emphasizes the focus on a comfortable arrival experience. It also clarifies the purpose of the briefing and how it can address equipment needs.
Fuel up with an early breakfast before your exhilarating 35-minute flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. This scenic journey aboard a STOL aircraft offers stunning views of the eastern Himalayas - request a left-side seat for the best panoramas. Land at Lukla's airstrip, built by Sir Edmund Hillary and Sherpas in the mid-1960s, and prepare to be awestruck by the majestic peaks that surround this unique village.

Our trek begins! We'll leave Lukla behind and follow a relatively easy trail through vibrant rhododendron and pine forests. Our destination for the day is Phayang, reached via the charming village of Surke. Immerse yourself in the beauty of the Himalayas as we embark on this exciting adventure.
Fueled by breakfast, we delve into the verdant embrace of the forest. Our path gradually ascends, leading us to the picturesque village of Pangkongama. Here, breathtaking views of the surrounding valley unfold before you, with a nearby monastery adding a touch of serenity to the landscape.
After a warm morning tea, we embark on a scenic 3-hour downhill trek through a vibrant rhododendron forest. Immerse yourself in the lush surroundings as we make our way down. A delicious lunch awaits amidst the tranquility of the forest, before we continue our journey alongside the Hinku River. In a couple of hours, we'll arrive at our overnight destination, Kothe.
Excitement fills the air as today we venture into Barun National Park. After an early breakfast at our Kothe campsite, we'll obtain our park entry permits. With permits secured, we set off on the trail, following the Hinku River for approximately 4-5 hours. Our destination is Thaknak, a village nestled amidst breathtaking scenery. As we approach, prepare to be mesmerized by the towering peaks of Thamserku, Kusum Kanguru, and Kangtega.
Today's focus is acclimatization, a crucial step for a successful trek. To aid this process, we'll embark on a stimulating side trip, either venturing towards the Charpate Himal Glacier or conquering a nearby hill. Remember, "climb high, sleep low" is the mantra for acclimatization. This activity will take us to higher altitudes for a period of time, followed by our descent back to Thaknak for the night. This cycle helps your body adjust to the thinner air in preparation for higher climbs ahead.

This revision clarifies the purpose of acclimatization and explains the "climb high, sleep low" principle. It also maintains the key details about the side trip options.
An early breakfast fuels us for today's demanding climb. Leaving Thaknak behind, we navigate the lateral moraine of the Dig Glacier, eventually reaching Dig Kharka. This picturesque location offers captivating views of the Charpate Himal.

Our path continues to ascend through moraines, leading us to the snout of the Hinku Nup Glacier. Brace yourselves for a steeper climb as we cross the Shar Glacier, followed by a challenging uphill ascent to Khare. Our efforts will be rewarded upon arrival at our overnight camp. Khare boasts a spectacular view of Mera Peak's north face – a sight that will leave you breathless.
Rest and recharge in Khare today, as tomorrow we venture higher. The morning will be dedicated to a comprehensive climbing course on a nearby hill. Your expert guides will equip you with the essential skills you'll need for the climb, including proper use of climbing gear, glacier travel techniques, and safety protocols like using a safety cord.

The afternoon is yours to relax and meticulously organize your gear for the push to Mera Peak High Camp. A well-rested and organized team is key to a successful summit attempt!
Today's climb to Mera Peak High Camp demands focus and perseverance. Strap on your crampons and grab your ice axe as we tackle the steep ascent. The route winds its way through the Mera La, a glacial pass, before reaching a rocky section at approximately 5,800 meters. This is where we'll establish our High Camp.

Despite the challenging climb, the rewards are unparalleled. High Camp offers a panoramic vista like no other. Witness the majestic Kanchenjunga rising majestically to the east, framed by the Chamlang ridge. Other Himalayan giants, including Makalu, Ama Dablam, Nuptse, the southern flanks of Lhotse, and Lhotse Shar, will also come into view. Prepare to be awestruck by the breathtaking panorama that unfolds before you.
Summit Day: A Dream Realized

Summit day arrives! An early wake-up call is essential as we prepare for the climb with a warm cup of tea. Temperatures here can plummet to an average of 10 degrees Celsius below zero, so bundle up appropriately.

Our ascent begins, following a gradual path across the glacier. We'll navigate the snow hump-back ridge, utilizing the classic non-technical route along the southeast ridge. The climb intensifies as we tackle the snout of the glacier and climb over the south summit to reach the final ridge.

And then, the culmination of your journey! Standing on Mera Peak's summit, you'll be rewarded with a breathtaking 360-degree panorama. Witness the grandeur of Everest, Kanchenjunga, Makalu, Cho Oyu, Lhotse, and countless other Himalayan giants pierce the sky. Take a moment to savor this incredible achievement and capture the unforgettable views with photos.

After basking in the summit glory, we'll begin our gradual descent back to Khare. Tonight, celebrate your success with your fellow climbers and guides, enjoying a well-deserved rest at Khare after conquering Mera Peak.
Mera Peak is a demanding climb, and unpredictable weather conditions or potential altitude sickness can sometimes disrupt our itinerary. This buffer day has been factored into your schedule to ensure flexibility. If unforeseen circumstances arise, this extra day allows us to adjust our plans and maintain a smooth flow for the climb.

Having this reserve day also provides peace of mind, knowing you have additional time to acclimatize or address any minor setbacks that might occur. This translates to a more enjoyable and successful summit attempt.
Today, we bid farewell to Khare and embark on our descent. The trail follows the Hinku Valley, offering a welcomed change in pace compared to the steeper climbs we've conquered. Enjoy the scenic journey as we make our way back to Khote.
An early start paves the way for today's trek. We'll follow a gradually ascending trail for a couple of hours, venturing through a vibrant green forest that graces the western edge of the Hinku Valley. Immerse yourself in the pleasant atmosphere and breathe in the invigorating aroma of red rhododendrons in bloom.

Our destination for the day is Thuli Kharka, a campsite offering stunning views of the Mera peaks, including Mera North, Mera Central, and Mera South. Imagine waking up to this majestic panorama – a truly inspiring sight.
Conquering Zatrwa La and Reaching Lukla

The adventure continues! Today, we embark on a challenging yet rewarding climb uphill for a couple of hours, eventually reaching Zatrwa La Pass. This scenic viewpoint will leave you breathless, offering a panoramic vista of the Lukla Valley. Gaze upon majestic peaks like Cho Oyu, Kongde, Numbur, Kusum Kanguru, and countless others that dominate the horizon.

Soak in the triumphant feeling of having conquered the pass, then begin your descent to Chutanga. From here, a straightforward path leads us back to the lively village of Lukla. Tonight, we celebrate your successful climb in grand style! Share stories, laughter, and a delicious meal with your Sherpa guides and porters, who have become valued companions throughout this journey. As you drift off to sleep in Lukla, savor the satisfaction of a remarkable adventure completed.
An early morning flight whisks you away from Lukla, offering breathtaking aerial views of the Himalayas one last time. Upon landing in Kathmandu, a private vehicle awaits to comfortably transfer you back to your hotel.
This is your time to unwind and pamper yourself. Sooth your tired muscles after the challenging yet rewarding climb, perhaps with a relaxing massage. Reflect on the incredible journey you've just completed, the memories etched forever in your mind.

Kathmandu offers a kaleidoscope of experiences for you to explore in the coming days - vibrant markets, ancient temples, and delicious local cuisine. But for now, savor the quiet satisfaction of a successful adventure and drift off to a well-deserved rest.
